About this publication

Practical energy guidance, with clearer evidence and fewer promises.

Power Savings Daily is an independently operated informational website about residential electricity use, home efficiency, and energy-saving products.

What we cover

Our guides are written for people trying to understand a high electricity bill, compare practical efficiency improvements, or decide whether an energy-related product is worth considering.

  • Household electricity use and common sources of waste
  • Insulation, air sealing, HVAC efficiency, and home-energy improvements
  • Energy monitors, smart controls, lighting, appliances, and related products
  • Consumer warnings about products that make unrealistic savings claims

Our current archive review

Power Savings Daily is reviewing its existing article library. Some older pages were created with overlapping topics, insufficient sourcing, or claims that need better qualification. Those pages may be rewritten, consolidated, redirected, or removed as the review progresses.

This page describes the standards being applied during that rebuild; it is not a claim that every older article has already completed the process.

Editorial standards

Evidence before percentages

Energy savings depend on climate, utility rates, building construction, equipment condition, and behavior. We avoid presenting a percentage from one example as a guaranteed result for every reader.

Sources readers can inspect

When an article is reviewed, we aim to use primary or technically credible sources such as government energy programs, utility documentation, recognized safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and clearly described calculations.

Reviews must describe what was actually reviewed

We distinguish hands-on testing from specification research and third-party evidence. We do not describe a product as personally tested unless records of that test exist.

Safety and professional advice

Electrical, HVAC, and building work can involve fire, shock, refrigerant, structural, or code risks. Our content is general information—not individualized electrical, engineering, legal, or financial advice. Use a qualified professional where appropriate.

Affiliate disclosure

Some pages may contain affiliate links. If you click one of those links and make a purchase, Power Savings Daily may receive a commission at no extra cost to you.

Commercial relationships should be disclosed before or near recommendations. A commission does not prove that a product saves energy, and products should be evaluated using the same published criteria whether or not an affiliate program is available.

Independence and limitations

Power Savings Daily does not represent a utility company, government energy program, product manufacturer, or consumer-protection agency. Brand names belong to their respective owners. References to a brand or program do not imply endorsement or an official relationship.

Corrections

If you find an error, unsupported claim, broken link, outdated program, or calculation that needs review, please contact us and include the article URL and the specific passage.
